If you are unable to use Microsoft Office or receive a document via email that requires modifications, you can use Google Chrome with the official Google Editor Office extension. Opening a Word file on Windows 10 is as easy as following these steps:
- Select the Microsoft Office button and click on "Open".
- Choose "OpenDocument Text" from the file type menu.
- Select a file and click "Open".
To open a Word file that was created with a previous version, follow these steps:
- Open the desired file.
- Select "Info", then "Version History" and "File".
- Choose a version to open in a new window.
- Select "Restore" if you want to restore a previous version that was opened.
To open an older version Word file, you need to first open the file you were working on. Click on "Info" in the "File" section. When closing without saving, choose the file with the label and click on "Manage Documents".
