If you haven’t saved the file, follow these steps:

To restore an Excel file, follow these steps:

To directly recover unsaved documents in Word, follow these steps:

  1. Click on "Media" and find the "Open file" menu.
  2. Choose "All files" and locate the location of the temporary file.
  3. To restore the TMP file, click "Open".

There is an extension for the browser called Typio From Recovery (TFR). This extension, available for Google Chrome, will try to save the text you frequently write on a social network, email platform, or any other place where you regularly write.

To manually restore a Word document, depending on the Office version, the Autosave files can be found in one of the following paths:

  • C:UserYourUsernameAppDataLocalMicrosoftOfficeUnsaved Files
  • C:UserYourUsernameAppDataLocalTemp
  • C:WindowsTemp

In the address bar, type the command about:cache. This way, the Chrome window will directly show the list of temporary internet files. Click on the "Enter" icon.

Generic temporary files created by the operating system can be found in the Windows Temp folder.
