- Access the official Skype website.
- Choose "Download Skype for Windows".
- After the download is complete, run the .exe file.
- Grant administrator permissions if prompted.
- Click on "Install".
If you already have a Skype or Microsoft account:
- Open Skype and enter your Skype name, email, or phone number.
- Enter your password and click on the arrow to proceed.
To download the latest version of Skype:
- Choose the platform you want to download for (Amazon, Android, iPad, iPhone, Mac, or Windows devices).
- Follow the provided steps to install the latest version of Skype.
To download Skype on an Android tablet:
- Click here to access the Play Store.
- Sign in with your Google account if necessary.
- Search for the Skype application, similar to how you would for the mobile version.
- Double-click on the "Install" button.
You can use Skype for free on a computer, tablet, or mobile phone. Calls are completely free when both parties use Skype. Users do not have to pay for premium features such as voicemail, SMS, calls to landlines or mobiles, or when using Skype.
To make a video call on Skype from a computer:
- Enter the conversation.
- Click on the camera icon in the top bar to start a video call with a single user.
- Skype will initiate the video call using the PC or smartphone’s microphone and webcam.
If you are unable to access Skype, try the following:
- Check that your device has a working internet connection and sufficient bandwidth.
- Make sure you are using the latest version of Skype.
- Ensure that your security software or firewall settings do not block Skype.
Skype on desktop may not start for various reasons. The main cause could be that your system does not meet the minimum requirements for the latest version of Skype. For more information, refer to Skype’s system requirements.
If you have forgotten your Skype password or username, follow these instructions:
- Visit the account recovery page.
- Provide your Skype name, phone number, email, and an alternate email for contact.
To update Skype on Android:
- Access the toolbar and choose Skype.
- Select the option to check for updates.
